What is FasTag
The National Highway Authority of India has started an “Electronic Toll Collection” (E.T.C.) or FasTag system to overcome the problems arising out of cash toll collection system at toll plazas.
The central government has implemented FasTag on all vehicles coming on the toll plaza of the National Highway from 1 December 2019. The government has implemented this rule to avoid long lines, jams and pollution of people at the toll booths of the National Highway.

According to NHAI rules, 20% overload on any commercial vehicle is double that of the owner, four times the 20 to 40% overload, six times the 40 to 60% overload, 60 to 80% overload. But a penalty of eight times and up to ten times over 80 to 100% overload will be charged.

Tax free toll
The National Highway Authority has ruled that if the RFID scanner is defective or is not able to scan the correct FasTag, the Vehicle Honor will not have to pay any money and can pass the toll plaza for free. The officers of the toll plaza will manually give the receipt of zero fees and the car’s record will be recorded.
Demands of FasTag

Security Amount to buy FasTag

FasTag’s Recharge Amount Limit
The minimum amount can be up to Rs 100 and the maximum amount can be up to Rs 1 lakh for FasTag to be recharged later.
If KYC is not linked with your FasTag account, then you can only get a maximum recharge of up to 20 thousand rupees.
Account holders with complete KYC are exempted from recharging up to Rs 1 lakh.
